Coo

What is it to be an artist?
Is it akin to female mantises practising sexual cannibalism?
Salmons going against the current?

For the past two decades Bob Kil has made some notes on the odd realities of the profession. The world of never-ending uncertainty and psychological strain, along with the great pleasure of having a life mission, is subtly entwined in her writing.

For her performance at times, Kil will return to the piece over several months. Each time, another 'o' is added to the title "Coo," signaling its ongoing evolution. In each performance, her voice is enveloped by a consistently refined gesture, imparting precise rhythm to the piece.

Bob Kil (1975,b.Seoul w.Berlin) Bespeaking visual symbols and signifiers, Bob Kil explores the essence of today’s reality touching on both human affairs and beyond. Whilst spoken words convey these observations with a notable rhythm, the repetitive movement cements the piece, articulating her belief in an immaterial and autonomous existence.

Bob Kil has shown at various institutions such as Museo Tamayo in Mexico City (2024), Museum der Moderne Salzburg (2024), MUDAM in Luxembourg (2024), n.b.k. in Berlin (2024), Haus am Waldsee in Berlin (2023), Art Sonje in Seoul (2023), Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin (2022), Busan Biennale (2022), Hammer Museum in Los Angeles (2022).
